Experience Design Approach

Human-Centric & Data-Driven

My Process

I base my work on insights and understanding. By acquiring stakeholder input throughout development, I ensure my solutions are both desirable and usable. My proven experience design approach is followed to represent and exceed the expectations of those that will engage with the solutions I create.

    Investigate & Understand

Creating innovative and desirable solutions requires identifying needs and opportunities. My process starts with discovery - conducting research to gain insights about an area of interest. I employ a methodology of digging into the problem space to thoroughly understand the landscape of what I am attempting to solve, who I am solving it for, and identifying what success looks like.

    Technique Examples:
    • Desk research
    • Segment & Persona identification
    • Experience design audits
    • Expert & hueristic reviews
    • Data, telemetry, & process analysis
    • Experience benchmarking
    • Stakeholder workshops
    • Other inquiry techniques

    Define & Design

I believe design itself is a process and good design takes time; But great designs, evolve. Using data insights derived from the initial investigative process provides the foundation for structuring my design thinking approach and project plan. For greenfield and blue-sky areas, employing participatory workshops with stakeholders opens up avenues for innovation and success.

    Technique Examples:
    • Workshops
    • Requirements
    • Experience flows
    • Service blueprints
    • Concept explorations
    • Information Architecture
    • Prototypes of various fidelity

    Test & Verify

Ensuring requirements and strategies are right, requires gathering feedback throughout development. Solution iterations are tested with stakeholders to verify design descisions and requirements are on track.

Performing testing and verification early and often improves all aspects of development. Feedback from research participants also allows for discovery and reduction of costly usability issues.

Arguably, testing and verification is the most crucial part of the experience design process, as this is a key point where targeted stakeholders provide feedback to all work done on the project at that stage in development.

    Technique Examples:
    • Study protocols
    • Usability testing
    • UAT test plans
    • QA reviews
    • A/B testing
    • Friendly user & pilot trials
